Network Marketing can and probably should be looked at as a game. Many say it's a numbers game, and that's pretty true.

But it's also a way of keeping score on how well you're obeying the rules and principles of the game itself. I suppose you can count your downline numbers and your commission numbers as indicators of whether or not you're winning.

Or like we do; you can consider yourself a winner as you collect success stories of people that you've mentored in the business. It's up to you how you keep score, but it's a lot funnier to enjoy the process when it's a game and not life or death.

But whether it's network marketing or something else, if you're going to look at something as a game, why not take some advice from the most winning coach that ever lived?

Network Marketing Success... (With a Little Help from Coach John Wooden) ...

“Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming” ~ Coach John Wooden

That quote goes a long way toward what I was saying above. Ann and I have enjoyed much success from network marketing. We've enjoyed financial freedom for many years. We've been able to enjoy the fact that when we're not feeling well, or in pain, we don't have to slug off to work that day. We've also enjoyed some of the luxuries of life like vacations, new cars, and some of the finest restaurants in the world.

But what makes us feel successful is simply that we've done our best to make sure that those that we've brought into the business succeed. And we love the fact that so many people have. We've truly, as Coach Wooden said, done our best to become the best that we are capable of.  And we're still striving toward that.

And do you know what the best part of that is? The best part of that is that when you do that, success just seems to follow you. We've focused our attention on helping others succeed, and we've witnessed the accumulative effect that that's had on our lives. When you focus on becoming the best that you're capable of, then success becomes a part of who you are. That's vital in network marketing.

John Wooden created what he calls “The Pyramid of Success”.  Here's what that looks like...

You'll notice that at the bottom of that pyramid lies a profoundly crucial foundation. We know that when you build anything, including success in network marketing, the foundation must be amazingly strong, or nothing can stand for very long.

Industriousness

Friendships

Loyalty

Cooperation

Enthusiasm

When you have that as your foundation, then you're able to put in place all the center blocks that lead to Competitive Greatness. That competitive greatness comes as a byproduct of the foundation. It's interesting to realize that we've built this foundation without really ever knowing that we were building on Mr. Wooden's principles.

Perhaps though the most important elements for us, in our network marketing business over the years are those that are going up the sides of the pyramid. I'll let you discover those for yourself...

“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” ~ Coach John Wooden

Success in network marketing, like winning at any sport, simply comes down to doing the right things over and over again, and doing them with honesty, sincerity, reliability, integrity, and patience.
