The first time I built a team I had this fantasy idea that we would all love what we were doing, grow old together, make a lot of money and retire living happily ever after.

Oh, how I love the mind and innocence of that young inexperienced entrepreneur (me).

After seeing that this hope method wasn’t going to work, I went on to try to give everyone what they wanted and tried to create for them what they were saying they would like. This also failed...

Turns out most people don't actually know what they truly want and empowering questions needed to be asked in order to gain clarity on that but that wasn’t the only thing missing.

After many failed attempts at building a team, I saw the writing on the wall, the real key to the recipe lives within the person you wish to build with.

1. Are they choosing to be there with a clear conscious
2. What is their heart's desire
3. Do they easily communicate with you?

If their objective was purely money based and all they saw were dollar signs that didn't work not long term anyway. However, if they loved to serve others, enjoyed the product themselves and saw results and could speak into their experience, and had the willingness to be a part of a team then hey you have something good there.
