Leaders are special people that require a little attention.

Most people respect someone that is either or has been a leader. However, let's look at the traits of a leader. Seven traits include loyalty, duty, courage, respect, honor, integrity, and selfless service. Sounds easy but it doesn't include technical skills.  Not one of these skills is natural but must be learned and polished. Don't worry each of the skills can be developed and we will talk about them in small detail.

Loyalty and Duty for Potential Leaders

Loyalty to one's own family and work is different. Should they be different? No, because different treatment kind of confuses people. Be loyal across the board regardless of ties. This means being there as if they are family but don't compromise your ethics. Don't give up on someone because they fall behind. Be patient and kind to them. Be personable and help them. Stick by their side even when things are rough.

Duty starts at the very moment that you accepted the business and teammate. Own the mistakes and focus all of the passion and loyalty on creating a better you and them. Keep your hands clean. Don't fall into the dirty tricks to get business. Be honest and open so that you can be blameless. Help those who are struggling and be there for those victories as well.  Duty doesn't end even if you take a vacation.

Integrity and Selfless Service for all Leaders

Selfless service is difficult but with a people-first focus and a clear heart. This trait will quickly develop into a lifestyle. Put away all the problems for a moment and focus on creating a team or family environment that is warm and open. Allow the flow of open communication and emotions to help guide you to help others achieve. Don't be afraid to listen to feedback, encourage it. Otherwise, you develop into an effective leader.

Integrity is vital as a leader. Transparency in everything you do is a top priority. It's easy to lie and mislead, but the truth will always come out. Lies will destroy your reputation and it's very difficult to recover from a ruined reputation. So instead be honest and be real with your work. Keep things above the covers so there is no doubt about you.

Courage, Respect, and Honor Traits Qualifications for All Leaders

Honor is a trait that is required by all leadership levels. Be honest in all areas of life. Don't mislead or mistreat prospects, teammates, or loved ones. Never hide problems or even rewards from the rightful recipient. Respect the boundaries of others. Respect authority above and below your level. Respectfully communicate ideas and turn away from those who cannot be respectful. If you see something wrong dare to speak out against it. Be bold and be honest and lead others to the light. Don't cover up the wrong. Leaders won't back down from standing up for the truth. Be faithful to yourself and your business. Never back down from wrong things.
