Q. Can I sit on my butt, chant affirmations, and believe in the "Law of Attraction" to create my success in network marketing?

A. Our subconscious minds can listen and begin to believe affirmations. But, our prospects don't care about our subconscious minds. They care about what we say and do.

Instead, consider learning skills we currently don't know, so that we can get our message to our prospects.
• Believing we are a doctor, but never attending medical school, leaves dead patients.
• Believing we are a pilot, but never learning the skills to fly, means we only fly once.

Affirmations make us feel better. And they can direct our minds to look around and notice things that can help us move forward to our goals.
Maybe one of the things our minds are looking for is … the skills to do our business.

Hooks and Headlines...

"Look like a millionaire for less than $50."

"Have that exclusive spa facial look for only $1.75 a day."

"Do you swallow hard when your boss tells you to work overtime?"

"Take a six-month vacation - twice a year and hire your boss to do your work."

"Let strokes and heart attacks happen to somebody else."

"Your body comes with a lifetime guarantee."

"Here are three things your boss forgot to tell you."

Why Prospects Join

If prospects joined because of information, companies wouldn't need us. They already have information everywhere. So it is not the "information" that makes the difference. Then, what makes the difference?

1. Who presents the information.

2. How the information is presented.

Both of these factors are within our control.

Which one of these factors are we working on now?

First The Obvious

We are often asked, "Which is better? Building my business online, or offline?"

Oh my. Sometimes wisdom is not in the answer. Wisdom could be in knowing what question to ask. Here is our reply.

Us: "When building online, will we eventually get a prospect to talk to? Will this prospect be a human?"

Newbie: "Yes."

Us: "When building offline, will we eventually get a prospect to talk to? Will this prospect be a human?

Newbie: "Yes."

Us: So, how we choose to locate a human to talk to is of minor importance.

Newbie: "Oh."

Us: "Smart pros know that the big question is, What will we say to this human?’"

Newbie: "Wow. I have been concentrating on, and asking the wrong question."

At this point we have hope.

This new team member now understands why our companies need us. They need "live" humans to talk to other "live" humans. If the company could do it all online, with automated systems, or advertising … they wouldn’t need us!

Let’s imagine we are new. Our offline, in-person conversation with our human prospect goes like this:

Us: "Uh. Uh. Hi?"

Human: "Hi."

Us: "I am looking for humans to join my business. Do you want to join?"

Human: "Not really."

Us: "I have a brochure."

Human: "No thank you."

Us: "Want a website to go to? A video? A sample?"

Human: "Sorry, I have to go now. Need to change the air in my car tires before 3 pm."

It doesn’t matter if we meet online, offline, at the grocery store, at a self-improvement seminar, or at the Christmas party.

If we don’t know how to talk to and connect with humans, our conversations will end badly.

Let’s imagine we work online. Our conversation with our human prospect goes like this:

Us: "I got you with my online funnel. Let’s talk."

Human: "Who are you?"

Us: "I attracted you with my $497 automatic attraction marketing system. Want to join?"

Human: "Huh? Are you okay?"

Us: "Here is a link to my company’s commercial video. Want to put your life on hold and watch it?"

Human: "You are crazy. And irritating. What is this all about?"

Us: "We are in relationship marketing. We use autoresponders, automated software, and Facebook bots. And you will never have to prospect and talk to anyone like I am doing now."

Human: "Where is the relationship marketing part you mentioned?"

Us: "Uh, Uh … go to this website. It is all explained there."

Human: "Please leave me alone."

Us: "But I am branding myself. Feel it?"

Human: "Click."

It doesn’t matter if we spent $997 on a social media course, pay $69 monthly for automated software, started a blog, or have the perfect $497 automatic attraction marketing system with no work, no prospecting, and only talk to strangers.

If we don’t know how to talk to and connect with humans, our conversation will end badly.

So what is the point of these cringing conversations?

The point: People who know how to talk to and connect with prospects … win big!

How we choose to meet prospects is not the challenge. Talking to and connecting with prospects is the challenge.

And now … the secret.

What separates humans from all other living animals? That we cooperate? No. Many species cooperate for better results.

The human secret superpower difference? Stories.

We can think, communicate, and learn through stories. We can imagine a future with stories. This is our superpower.

When we create a structured story, here is what happens. Instead of our sales pitch being ignored, we mesmerize and activate our prospects’ imagination as they see themselves experiencing a future.

Instant attention. Instant connection. Instant message transfer. Instant impact.
