How do we see "leaders?" They're the ones motivating us from the stage; 'Successful already, just waiting to give us the "key" if we'll just do what they say!

Ok...I'm gonna challenge this old paradigm. How does one become a leader before they are one?

How do you become "successful" before you are successful? "Fake it until you make it?'

Being inspiring is great, but let me ask you something. Who is that about?

If you had to make a choice - you don't, by the way - of being cheered up on stage for a moment, or shifting someone's life forever, which would YOU pick? Thought so.

Now the paradigm of leadership, and sponsorship, for that matter, has predominantly been around motivating others and making them successful. The problem I've found with this is our society is addicted to motivation...and always looking for it outside of ourselves!

The moment we put something, someone, some product, or some company "in charge" of our success we give away our power and personal responsibility for our results.

This is not to say that we cannot be motivating or inspiring, it's just that there are other considerations that not only can make a lasting difference but can create the duplication of leadership...

Here's what I endeavor to do and teach others to do to duplicate leaders and effective sponsors.

#1. BE an example.

An example of how the product works and THAT the product works. Be an example of how the product is sold and people are enrolled effectively. You cannot expect others to do what you cannot or are unwilling to do.

#2. Provide "direction."

People look to a leader to teach them "Where do I go? What do I need to do? How do I do it? If you don't know...learn, know, then TEACH.

#3. Support.

Supporting others is not chasing, coddling, hand holding, or begging. Support from a leader is not leaving results to chance. Leaders help people co-create a plan for success, then instead of "supervising", they immerse themselves in others' success, because that IS their success as well.

Be and set an example. Provide direction, and sprinkle in a little inspiration, and motivation, if you'd like. ???? Finally, have an agreement about communication and assist them in creating a plan and support them in staying on track to get what they are committed to.

You'll be the new paradigm for leadership...well, you will be in "my book" anyway!
