Category: The "WHY"
If businesses can be boiled down and all of the ingredients could be looked at, there is one common flavor that all of them share. This one trait is the "why" element. Why did person x start the business? This is the trait that motivates everything for the business. Throughout this article, the reasons for business operation will be explored.
Serving Others Is A Calling
One main reason that people start a business is that they want to serve others. People have different skills and talents. They want to help others for a ton of different reasons. They could include financial stability, life success, or help them overcome a disability. This is a very powerful why that can provide a very rewarding career.
Not everyone can serve. It takes patience and kindness to help those. There are other reasons for serving as well. The serving attitude is a very humble one that may not always be specific in scope. A specialist in home construction may have a different why set than a general contractor but there are always exceptions to the rule. Serving may not be the right why for some people. So, let us look at some more.
Financial Independence from Traditional Workplaces
Financial independence drives a lot of people to start their own businesses. This why is the most popular reason to why own businesses. The income potential is unlimited, but it’s not guaranteed. If the person has a strong financial sense; they can budget and invest any income into their business with a lower risk level.
Becoming independent from traditional sources means more risk associated with that person. Income is not guaranteed at all. However, it doesn't mean not to use this as a why. It is only meant to bring awareness to that not a business is not a get rich quick scheme. Be careful in investing in a business. Do some research into the potential market before starting the business.
More Freedom With Loved Ones
More time with loved ones with the potential to have a great income has lured millions to business opportunities. The prospect of having time to do fun things is a huge temptation. Meaning that people have started businesses for this reason alone. Many times, a person ends up spending 50 or more hours a week at work just to make ends meet. This makes the worker tired and often stressed out. When owning a business the individual has full control over everything.
This article covered some reasons why people run businesses. There are more reasons that a person can use to run a business. The risks can be high or low depending on the person's education and career background. But they can still fail even with the right planning. This is the most common risk associated with business ownership. If the owner can save and reinvest some of the profit from the business. The chance of failure decreases. Losing sight of the "why" could mean failure too but it does not mean it’s the end.
